Y2K Bugging You? Just Eat It!

San Jose, Calif. – For those who aren’t sure how to handle the potential computer glitch known as the Y2K bug, a Silicon Valley start-up offers a simply sweet solution: “Just Eat It.”

Silicon Valley Confection Company™ (SVC2™) of San Jose, Calif. introduces the Year 2K Bug™, a 1.9 ounce ladybug-shaped milk chocolate bar sporting raised Y2K letters on its back.

The individually-boxed Year 2K Bug is available now for wholesale and institutional sale in cases of 48. They will be available to retail consumers by summer at a suggested price of $4.99 per bug.

The Y2K “bug” is the disposition of older computer software not to recognize the new century and, therefore, to wreak all manner of technological havoc on January 1, 2000. Y2K compliance has become the anxious watchword from manufacturers to financial services to hospital laboratories as the 20th century draws to a close.

“The Year 2K Bug was created as a lighthearted spoof of the transition to the new millennium,” says candy designer Rich Yacco. Encouraging consumption by midnight, December 31, its packaging warns, “Eat it while there’s still time™.”

“If your company wants an unusual client gift, promotional item or employee incentive, this sweet bug is for you,” adds SVC2 President Al Abrahams. “We guarantee the Year 2K Bug will put a smile on the lips of all who taste it as the clock strikes midnight this New Year’s Eve.”
The first in their line of “Technology You Can Eat™”, SVC2‘s Year 2K Bug is being manufactured and distributed by Knudsen’s Candy. “Even without its special appeal for the new millennium, the Year 2K Bug is an appetizing, delicious chocolate that should satisfy all candy lovers,” according to David Knudsen, president of the 26-year-old candy company.

More information is at www.svc2.com and knudsens.com. Year 2K Bug orders (one case minimum) may be placed now at Knudsen’s Candy, 1-888-736-6887. Faxed orders are accepted at 1-510-293-6890.
